Books

The most recently written books are:

1. An Introduction to Quality Management and Engineering by Dr. Michael J. Savoie.
This book is an introduction to the quality engineering body of knowledge as defined by ASQ. In addition to providing an introduction to each topic, the book contains extensive reference to specialized resources, which provide significantly more depth of coverage. This book is designed to be a gateway to that more extensive knowledge. In addition, this book provides a grounding in the fundamentals of each topic. The book is appropriate for use as the primary text in an introductory quality-engineering course at the associates level in the quality technician curriculum and at the baccalaureate and graduate level. May also be used as a secondary text in introduction to engineering, process engineering, and quality management courses. The text contains integrative cases, which can be used to provide students the opportunity to apply text material to simulated "real world" situations.

2. Classic Readings in Production and Operations Management by Dr. Michael J. Savoie.

3. Auditing Vendor Relationships by Mark Salamasick.
The trend toward outsourcing is continuing at a rapid pace. Processes are being turned over and control is being relinquished for many tasks that have been identified as non-core to the company. Many times, these outsourcing partnerships are successful and result in increased profits for the company. However, on some occasions outsourcing can have unintended and unforeseen consequences for the bottom line of the organization. To avoid these unwanted risks, management should employ the full use of the internal audit
department and the skills that many of the internal audit staff bring to the table. The aim of the handbook is to provide the auditor with the tools necessary to create a successful partnership for outsourced services and to provide management with the assurance that the outsourced processes are effective and efficient.
