About CITM
Mission
To Build A Center Of National Prominence
At The Crossroads Of Technology And Management.
Directed by Dr. Michael J. Savoie, the Center for Information
Technology and Management (CITM) focuses on wrapping the business
case around new and emerging technologies. We have incorporated
several methods to achieve our mission. Our Executive-in-Residence
and Faculty-in-Residence programs provide leadership for all
activities of the Center.
CITM’s mission is accomplished through the use of internships,
team projects, and partnerships with the business community.
Clients can utilize services including idea evaluation (The
Incubator), Graduate student class projects, and Center
level projects (eRepository).
We implement this by using a test bed environment initiative
with clients, partners and sponsors and evaluate for best
practices to incorporate new technologies into real world
activities. Through simulation, CITM can then identify issues
that may arise from new technological implementations - issues
that result in lost productivity and higher costs in the real
world. Solutions to these issues are identified and tested
before our partners invest millions of dollars in new technology.

the school’s ebusiness programs and research initiatives by
directing its mission toward the challenges of the rapid changes
occurring a the technology-driven global society.
Our Focus
The focus of the Center will continue to shift toward
Enterprise Systems. This area, which includes ERP and
Enterprise
Mobility, is one of the fastest growing areas within IT.The
Center began focusing on this area in 2004 with the creation
of the Enterprise Mobility Lab within CITM. In 2006, CITM
began working with the UTD faculty teaching enterprise systems
courses to further develop the infrastructure necessary to
support the course offerings. Our goal is to build awareness
and increase the focus of enterprise systems education within
our university. In order to be successful, outside organizations
are being asked to join the Board to better the program and
offerings. The ultimate goal is to educate students with skills
needed by corporations and consulting firms in the area of
enterprise system.
