Our Mission Directed
by Dr. Michael J. Savoie, the Center for Information Technology
and Management (CITM) focuses on wrapping the business
case around new and emerging technologies. We have
incorporated several methods to achieve our mission. Our Executive-in-Residence
and Faculty-in-Residence programs provide leadership for all
activities of the Center.
CITM’s mission is accomplished through the use of
internships, team projects, and partnerships with the business
community. Clients can utilize services including idea evaluation
(The Incubator), Graduate student
class projects, and Center level projects (eRepository).
We implement this by using a test bed environment initiative
with clients, partners, and sponsors and evaluate for best
practices to incorporate new technologies into real world
activities. Through simulation, CITM can then identify issues
that may arise from new technological implementations - issues
that result in lost productivity and higher costs in the real
world. Solutions to these issues are identified and tested
before our partners invest millions of dollars in new technology.
Our Research
Research in the field of Information Technology and Management
is key to transferring what we discover to the community for
implementation. Our faculty and staff as well as the community
provide insight to emerging technology through our publications
outlet, which include books, white papers, and publications.
Keeping abreast of issues in the field, CITM shares the latest
news in its "Future Trends" newsletter
and "CITM Research Notes".
CITM actively seeks partnerships with industry, non-profit,
and government entities interested in the application of Information
Technology and Management to their respective sectors. The
Center pursues grants and donations
from organizations willing to support its mission. These funds
are used to support research in the application of emerging
information technologies to the information and business community
and its effect on the management of organizations at large.
Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by
law.
CITM welcomes the submission of papers and articles that
enhance our mission in information technology and management.
Papers are accepted from within the UTD faculty along with
the community at large. Papers submitted to the Center will
be reviewed before being loaded to the web site free for all
to access.
CITM is part of the School of Management (SOM) of the University
of Texas at Dallas (UTD). |
